Archetype : Community Gardens

Providing public places where people can grow fruits and vegetables is another way to bring the community together. These places can be social hubs as well as educational spaces which can inspire people to grow more of their own food.

Community Peace Gardens

Inspired by the importance of Peace between all humans, animals, plants and the planet, Don Van Kleek brought forth the idea to make a community garden to give locals a full sun raised bed that they can grow their own veggies in. Since they are so publically located, the gardens also serve to demonstrate four season annual vegetable gardening to our community and its visitors.

Built with consciously harvested, one man milled, cedar, the gardens were made using a biodynamically inspired sheet mulch method you can learn more about here : http://gaiacraft.squarespace.com/biodynamic-sheet-mulch/

One of the gardens contains biodynamic plants for use in teas that feed the other ones. This was planted during a public community planting.

The gardens serve as an educational and social space for community building and fostering peaceful human and more-than-human interconnectedness.
